Coffee love for Valentine’s Day from caffeinated contributors (love you bunches):
Thanks to Reina, Cara, Kim, Quinn and Nicolle! xo
1000 cups of coffee, one photo at a time
Brooke Appler, Oakland CA.
Can we get a “woot” for coffee cup number 800? This lovely photo is courtesy of one of our most awesome caffeinated contributors, Brooke Appler. Last year Brooke did these sweet drawings at one of her favorite coffee houses, subrosa. The owner just published them as postcards, for sale with your latte…how cool is that? Here’s the inspiration for the drawing, coffee cup number 226 (that seems so long ago…574 cups ago).
Brooke’s illustration blog Miss U, Love U, and her Etsy shop is Team Blue Bicycle. And of course, her Flickr photostream is here and her portfolio here.
There’s still plenty of time to join the fun…200 more cups, room for all of you to join in (and thanks to all of you who helped drink and document the first 800 cups!).
Kate and I went into Sacramento yesterday afternoon to check out the new studio. We stopped by Temple Coffee and sat outside in the winter sunshine. Perfect.
Tonya Russ Price, Charlotte, North Carolina. Except for when she’s in Portugal.
“My husband loves espresso and steamed milk, not a latte, he likes the proportions more equal. In Europe you get these easily, it’s their small, you don’t have to get the super big gulp like here in the States. Needless to say, if we aren’t drinking booze, we are drinking coffee, just like in the States. Hmmm, maybe we should just stay home… Nahhhhhhhh.”
Tonya is a wedding photographer with two blogs, Poprock Photography (weddings) and Biscuit Fan Club (food).
Janine Graf, Redmond, WA. Iceland!
“Elbows, elbows.”
Janine runs the Flickr Group, Caffeine Nation. Her Flickr photostream is here and her photo Facebook page is here. Janine also sells 5×5 art prints of her fabulous coffee photos. Check out her shop here.

Kevin Cahill, Monterey, CA. Taken at the Edinburgh Airport, Scotland.
“Taken the day before yesterday at the Edinburgh airport waiting to return to London. I’m presenting at the Oxford Round Table next week and we came over a week early for a little British “holiday.” The restaurant was called “Eat” and Chip had a “big mocha” and I had a “big cappuccino” which were surprisingly good.”
Kevin is one of our dearest friends, and we’ve known him almost as long as we’ve known each other (over 30 years). He’s a talented designer, cook and collector of rocks. And he and Chip have high standards for their coffee, so if they say it’s good, I will believe them. Though I kind of want to retitle this “I’m your coffee type.” Heh.
Quinn Pendleton, Monte Carlo, Monaco. Sipped and shot in Catania, Sicily.
Quinn dances with the Ballet de Monte Carlos and seems to find moments to enjoy (and photograph) her coffee. She blogged about this trip here.
Danny Gutierrez, Oakland, CA.
Danny is the proprietor of Engage Coffee. It’s a new concept for a coffee company, engaging you to have a personal experience with the coffee (hence the very clever and appropriate name).
