coffee break | your coffee personality

coffee break :: where coffee and art collide (in a good way)

Wow. That’s all. Just wow.

Well, maybe a little more than wow. In NYC (of course, in NYC), artist Gwyneth Leech has an art show in the Flatiron Building of 700 coffee cups. Coffee cups she’s drawn on, and continues to draw on, as she has every day since September 20, 2011. It’s in the “prow” and is visible 24 hours a day. The show is called  Hypergraphia Cup Installation, and Gwyneth’s blog is here. Beauty in a cup, that’s what I think. Wow.

All photos are from Gwyenth’s site. Thanks to Steve for enjoying his NY Times this morning and finding the article!

coffee break :: a morning without coffee

This is the poster my daughter, Alex, gave me for Christmas. She knows, only too well, that a mom without coffee is well, you just don’t want to know. You can get your own from

coffee break | holiday style

Hey coffee lovin’ friends, I am going to take a short holiday break from coffee blogging. Just enough time to pay attention to my other life, collect some new photos, see if that pesky blog-spambot will leave me alone and get re-caffeinated and re-inspired. I’ll be back after the new year to post 760-1000 (that’s only 240 more!!). Please keep sending me your coffee photos ( and I will queue them up. And…thank you for hanging with me this year. May your holidays been fully caffeinated, merry and bright. See you on the flip side.

coffee break | I drink

Just a quick breather from our caffeinated travels to Iceland, Portugal and my backyard (I know, that was exciting, wasn’t it?). Coffee, wine and a venn diagram…it’s all I need to start (and end) a good day.  I found this on Flickr, from Mason Brown.  In the meantime…remember, life is too short for bad coffee. See you tomorrow for more.

coffee break | have sticks will travel

I know you came here for your daily cup of coffee, but trust me, I have something even cooler.  Check out artist Jonathan Brilliant’s art installations…built out of 70,000 coffee stir sticks. Imagine the popsicle stick crafts of your childhood all grown up, gussied up and showing up at the gallery as fine art.

He also builds art installations from coffee cup lids and cardboard sleeves. Brilliant.

Back tomorrow with coffee.

coffee break | the dark side

Kate (my oldest daughter, if you’ve been following along) pinned this on Pinterest. She knows.

My youngest, Alex, still doesn’t understand why I am ok with my coffee addiction. She’s only 17. I still have time to bring her over to the dark side.

Sourced from Piccsy.

(By the way, here is  Kate on Pinterest. Here is Kim on Pinterest. If you’re looking for a way to waste some time, distract you from everything practical and necessary, gather and track your inspiration, you should come visit.)
