From Brigindo of North Carolina, and the blog Dirt and Rocks.

Brigindo is on a road trip from Alaska to North Carolina. That sounds like a lot of hours in the car…glad the coffee can help. Safe travels, my friend.

559. broken egg cafe

Ken Newton, Nevada City, CA. Taken in Mandeville, Louisiana.

“Deep in the bayou country of southern Louisiana, on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, lies the very old town of Mandeville.  The Broken Egg Café is in the heart of town and close by the Tammany Trace, an amazingly scenic bike path that winds through swamp and marsh along the contours of the lake, overhanging oaks creating a tunnel of shade to escape the Louisiana heat.  The café is a very welcome place to have brunch and, of course, to enjoy the house specialty, Community Coffee Columbian Dark Roast, while surrounded by the beautiful banana fronds and flowers.”

558. afternoon at cafe du monde

Ken Newton, Nevada City, CA. Taken in New Orleans.

The Café du Monde in the French Quarter of New Orleans is synonymous with late evening and early, early morning, savoring the flavors of the city while enjoying the aroma and taste of that unique blend of rich coffee and chicory.  But it also true that beignets and café au lait are wonderful in mid-afternoon which is where I found myself during a summer thunderstorm.”

557. magic in the morning

Tonya Russ Price, Charlotte, NC.  Taken in Portland, OR.

I had my the photos for today all lined up, and then this showed up in my inbox. Tonya’s on a Pacific  Northwest trip, seeking peace, love and coffee photos. And except for the luggage part, it sounds (and looks) fantastic.

Checked into the Ace Hotel last night, woke up to a magical door, opening up to Stumptown. Beautiful latte, made with love. Oh my. This somehow makes up for my long delays, insomnia and the fact that my luggage is still out partying on US Airways.”

Tonya is a wedding photographer with two blogs, Poprock Photography (weddings)  and Biscuit Fan Club (food).

Bright, shiny colors for a soon-t0-be bright, shiny morning. And that would be the Blue Fox Cafe in Victoria, British Columbia.

555. wake up!

Tonya Russ Price, Charlotte, NC.

Just thought you should know that it’s Monday morning, and Tonya’s latest photo seems to be the best way to announce it.

“Good morning from Charlotte. Today was a good coffee day. Took Billyboy to aeroport, then hit Caribou, sat outside before it hits 100 degrees today. Then it will have to be iced.”

Tonya is a wedding photographer with two blogs, Poprock Photography (weddings)  and Biscuit Fan Club (food). And she’s not afraid of color or coffee, and knows how to use both!

553. saturday over ice

It’s Saturday, which means there will be a delicious (and I mean life-changing delicious) iced coffee in my near future. This recipe…try it, really. It’s the best.

Also, a chance to shamelessly, and enthusiastically, promote my daughter Kate’s newest project (along with her creative, delightful and oh-so-entertaining beau, Brendan), Mr. Boat-head’s Electrical Dream Ship. Launching in September, story here.

552. coffee in kochi city

Monica Lee, San Francisco, CA. Taken in Kochi, Japan.

Walking down the street in Kochi City, Japan and came across this signage. There is no doubt what is served behind this store front door when it is open!”

Monica is one of our college friends (which is nicer than saying she’s one of our oldest friends) and connected to several of the other caffeinated contributors (Alix, Kevin, Chip, Tom, Leslie, Tracy, Kathe, Dianne). Monica doesn’t drink coffee, but she promised me a photo (and she can always be counted on for cool signage)  She’s a talented photographer and artist, and blogs as the Artful ReCrafter here. So happy you joined, Monica. It wasn’t a party until you were here.
